The Wolfeboro Area Recreation Association (WARA) was formed as a direct result of The Taylor Home Community's transfer of a portion of land that was unsuitable for their housing needs. Of the original 120 acres purchased, about 40 acres were returned to the Land Bank for this purpose. It proved to be the catalyst to fulfill an essential community need to increase the quality and quantity of playing fields in the Wolfeboro-Tuftonboro area. While this particular land was not suitable for the types of fields needed, the Land Bank was nevertheless instrumental in creating WARA. The result was the formation of an organization that has since become an outstanding example of exceptional community support. A 35-acre recreational facility, now coming on line, exemplifies WARA's community contribution.
